A Community of Volunteers

Welcome to the Flintridge Sacred Heart community of parents and families! It is our pleasure to assist you as a volunteer during your daughter’s time here on the Hill. Your volunteer service is not only deeply appreciated, but it is also essential.

Volunteer Opportunities

The volunteer services our families provide allow many of the cherished traditions at Flintridge Sacred Heart to continue, strengthening the bonds of those who have come before and those who will follow your daughters.  Volunteers also play a crucial role in providing support to our administrative staff and help offset school operational expenses.

There are many opportunities to serve and support the school community. Below is a summary list.  Please complete the Volunteer Interest Form online, and you will be contacted by the parent in charge for more details.

Admissions Parent Ambassadors

These volunteers serve as the "voice of the school," leading prospective parent tours during Open House, 8th Grade Visiting Days and other admissions events. They are important representatives who share their experiences with the next generation of Flintridge Sacred Heart parents.

Booster Club

The Booster Club is a parent group that supports the athletics department. Boosters often sell school merchandise at events and help organize, publicize and run the Athletics Hall of Fame Award Mass and Dinner, which takes place in February.

Flintridge Fund Committee

The Flintridge Fund Committee leads the efforts of our annual fund, known as the Flintridge Fund, by serving as co-chairs or committee members.  Composed of approximately 30 members, the committee has meetings, training and phonathons throughout the year.

Friends of the Arts (FOTA)

Friends of the Arts is a parent group that supports the Visual and Performing Arts department. FOTA helps organize, publicize and run events such as ComedySportz matches, the Fall Musical, the Dance Concert and the Art Show.

The Parents’ Guild

The Parents’ Guild organizes and supports a number of events for the school community, such as the Mother Daughter Luncheon, Father Daughter Dance and the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

Special Events

Gala and Golf Tournament, our annual fundraising events, and Grandparents Day offer many volunteer opportunities, from participation on the planning committee to volunteering the day of the event.

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • Hours required

Each family is required to provide 30 hours of service*. The time allotted for completing service hours is August 1  to April 30.

*Single parent families are responsible for 15 service hours each year. Divorced or separated parents may each serve 15 hours. If you are unable to complete family service hours due to hardship, or if you are a frontline essential worker in the Healthcare/ Public Health sector, please email volunteer@fsha.org.

  • Payment in lieu of serving

If your service hours are not completed within the time period stated above, parents will be charged $15 for each hour remaining. The Business Office will issue an invoice in May based on hours reported by parents as of April 30. Hours worked on the Faculty/Staff luncheon will be reported by the parent coordinator and your invoice will be adjusted accordingly.  Unpaid balances due as of May 31 will be added to the July 1 billing statement for returning parents; Seniors must pay upon receipt of the invoice. The hours are not transferable nor may they be carried over to the following school year.
  • Purchase of food or supplies

Purchased food for sporting events or other hospitality events are credited one hour for each $15 spent (donation of goods to Golf and Gala do not qualify). Water bottles and tissue boxes are always welcome at the high school. Please indicate the items purchased and the amount spent on the service hours form and place receipts in the box next to the Principal’s office. Remit envelopes are available to label your receipts. If no remit envelopes are available, please inquire at the front desk or email volunteer@fsha.org.
  • Visiting campus

All volunteers must park in visitor designated parking space as all other spaces are assigned.  Volunteers must also sign the visitor log and obtain a guest pass either in the high school lobby, the lower lot attendant or at the reception desk of the Administration Building.  The guest pass must be worn at all times during your time on campus.  When finished, return directly to the office to sign out before exiting.
  • Reporting Hours

It is the responsibility of the parent to report parent service hours. Parent volunteer time should be reported per event. Please use the Parent Service Hours form to submit your hours. We only accept service hour submissions online.  If you would like to know the status of your account, please email volunteer@fsha.org.

  • Volunteering in May or June

Family volunteers are often needed in May and June, after the time period to complete service hours has expired. If you wish to volunteer during these months for specific activities and special events (annual Gala, graduation, or other Tolog traditions) you will be invited to sign up for these events prior to the May 1 deadline and credited for the hours in advance.
Please do not wait until the end of the year to complete your service hours. There are many opportunities in the fall and spring to serve the school!

Important note: Please remember that whenever you volunteer for a specific duty (whether working an event or bringing food for an event) you are being counted on to perform that task. If for any reason you cannot fulfill that duty, it is your responsibility to arrange for a substitute and contact the person in charge of that activity.

Thank you for serving Flintridge Sacred Heart!

Volunteer Screening

Safe Schools Training, Live Scan Fingerprinting & TB Tests

Flintridge Sacred Heart volunteers who interact directly with students will need a TB test, a Safe Schools Online training (one hour), and Life Scan fingerprint screening.

These requirements are in keeping with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Charter for the protection of Children and Young People and the mandates by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to maintain a "safe environment."

If you are interested in a volunteer opportunity that requires direct student interaction, please email volunteer@fsha.org to arrange for the training and testing.
