What’s your role in the boarding hall?

I am the Director of Residential Life at Flintridge Sacred Heart. I work with our other residential life faculty to create a home away from home experience for our international and domestic boarding students. This is achieved through many different programs and weekend outings.

I also moderate the Residential Life Leadership Council, which is our student leadership team within the halls. We work together to plan intentional programs, prayer services, birthday dinners, cultural dinners and other fun events. In living in the halls, I will often have students over to my apartment to eat together, watch a movie, play board games, bake or race in Mario Kart.

What made you want to work at Flintridge Sacred Heart?

There are several reasons why I wanted to work at Flintridge Sacred Heart. While I was in college I spent three years serving on their residence life team in several different positions. I have also spent a number of summers working with youth at summer camp. Working at Flintridge Sacred Heart allows me to return to a residential life atmosphere and continue to guide and mentor young women. I also loved the idea of working at an all girls school and getting to live and learn with young women from all over the world.

What most excites you about your work here on the Hill?

I enjoy getting to know each of the lovely students living here whether it be through casual conversations, helping them with homework, going outings, especially anything outdoors, impromptu trips to town and having game nights. There is so much joy, laughter and memories in these halls and it is exciting to be a part of it all.

What are the two most important things prospective boarding students should know about life in the boarding hall?

We, as a staff, truly want to make this place as home-like as possible for each of our students. We always have activities going on, whether it be a movie night, baking, small outings to local areas, planning a trip to an amusement park, game nights or spending time outside.

What is Flintridge Sacred Heart's best kept secret?

I think Flintridge Sacred Heart’s best kept secret is how beautiful the views are from multiple places on campus and how removed from the city life our campus is. I love spending time outside, enjoying all the views around campus.

What's your favorite spot on campus?

I have several favorite spots: the courtyard in the Residential Building, senior lawn and sitting out behind the dog run are all places that I love to be outside. My other favorite spot is my apartment when it is filled with students!

What do you love about the all-girls school environment at Flintridge Sacred Heart?

I love that each of our young women receives a holistic education focused on faith, integrity and truth. Each and every student is celebrated for being the best that they can be in all areas of their lives.

What are you surprisingly good at?

I am good at working with my hands. I love to be crafty in any way possible. I often cross stitch, make cards, work with paper, and find new craft projects to keep me busy whether it is at work or in my free time.

Where can we find you when you’re not in the boarding hall?

When I am not working, I may still be on the Hill because I am one of the faculty members who lives here. I’ll spend time reading on campus, playing board games or crafting in my apartment. If I leave the Hill I usually am finding somewhere new to explore, reading in a coffee shop, getting outside on a hike or going out to dinner with friends.

Who has made the biggest impact on your life?

My mom has had a huge impact on my life. She has always been there for me and encouraging me to work hard and strive for my dreams. She has shown me what it means to be a strong in the best and worst of times. I wouldn’t be who I am today without my mom.
