What’s your role in the boarding hall?
I am a Residential Life Supervisor. My role here at Flintridge Sacred Heart is to be able to nurture a fun, healthy, and inclusive environment where the girls are allowed to express themselves and grow comfortably. To provide guidance as needed. To support our team in the growing of our community here at Flintridge Sacred Heart.
What made you want to work at Flintridge Sacred Heart?
A fortunate stroke of serendipity. I met another residential life team member and after learning about the school's values for education, leadership and spirituality, I instantly fell in love. I have always worked at summer camps, as a teacher assistant and life coach, and I intuitively knew this would be the next step in my career. I look forward to making a difference in our girls' lives, so far it has been extremely rewarding.
What most excites you about your work here on the Hill?
Talking to the girls, learning where they come from, knowing about their life stories, their fears, their insecurities and knowing that I can be there for them as a mentor and a friend.
What are the two most important things prospective students should know about life in the boarding hall?
It may take the girls a while to warm up to you, but the sisterhood here at Flintridge Sacred Heart is unlike anything I have experience anywhere else. Once they warm up to you and get to you, you will love them. Also, our team here is extremely accommodating and very understanding with the girls. We also have so many fun activities and trips; the girls will have a blast!
What is Flintridge Sacred Heart's best kept secret?
The views and the overall location, but more importantly that it really does feel like home once you experience the sisterhood and the community that is formed here at Flintridge.
You feel welcomed and loved.
What's your favorite spot on campus?
The courtyard – I love the trees. The dining hall, especially on the days when the girls are genuinely happy and having so much fun. It is nice to bond with the girls, where they feel the most comfortable. Their true light shines through, and you see a different side to their personalities.
What do you love about the all-girls school environment at FSHA?
Definitely the sisterhood! it’s so nice and refreshing to see how the girls greet each other, hug each other and yell each other’s names to show their happiness and affection for each other. I love that they feel safe, confident and empowered to let their true self be seen for who they are. What they get to experience here at Flintridge Sacred Heart is an extremely powerful thing.
What’s been your favorite boarding hall experience?
Opening up the halls for returning and new students has been so much fun. I love the excitement in our office and all the commotion with planning, organizing and setting up. I also love the birthday dinners, it’s so nice to see the girls all dress up walking through the halls ready for the birthday theme parties.
What are you surprisingly good at?
Photography, planning events and organizing!!
Where can we find you when you’re not in the boarding hall?
I will drive to see my family and friends, at the beach, hiking, traveling, exploring new places, and volunteering
Who has made the biggest impact on your life?
My grandmother. Her spirit is so pure and she is extremely kind and compassionate. She has a good heart and has always been a great role model in life. She has thought me to work hard, to have fun, to not take life too seriously. To always do the right thing, to help out others, no matter the circumstances. To stand up for what is right and to have a very strong faith.
